How do you water a rhododendron?
A rhododendron grows best in moist soil. Keep a closer eye on your plant in summer and autumn, as this is when rhododendrons make new buds to bloom exuberantly the following year. Follow these tips to keep your plant fit.
- Water mainly in the evening.
- Keep the soil moist by covering it with a generous layer of mulch made up of pine needles, bark, peat and grass cuttings.
- It’s better to water abundantly once than to give a little water every day. This will allow the whole root ball to drink. Just make sure not to leave the roots sitting in water.
- If the leaves and flowers look dry and droopy, water immediately.
